WELCOME TO THE SISTERHOOD

On Saturday, April 5, 2025, the Zeta National Educational Foundation welcomed the final Founders' Centennial Scholarship recipient into the Sisterhood. Soror Adiva McQuarter, who is also a former Archonette, along with eight other young ladies, was inducted as a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, at the University of Mississippi. As the legacy of her mother, Soror Sasha Coleman, McQuarter truly embodies the principles of Zeta while manifesting the prominent qualities and character that resulted in being unanimously selected as the recipient of the Fannie Pettie Watts Founders' Centennial Scholarship worth $125,000.

Past International Centennial Grand Basileus Valerie Hollingsworth Baker created the scholarship named for our Five Triumphant Founders in 2019 in addition to her Million Dollar Endowment campaign and announced the first recipient fall 2020. The recipients of this prestigious scholarship represent the Atlantic, Great Lakes, Southern, Pacific, and South Central regions. Last fall, during the ZNEF annual board meeting in Tyson, Virginia, Board Chair, Valerie Hollingsworth Baker announced the Founders' Centennial will now be named the Chairman's Scholarship and increased to $150,000 to provide additional funds for undergraduate and graduate studies. The first Chairman's Recipient, named for ZNEF Founder Izzie Jenkins, Esq, will be introduced during the ZNEF 50th Anniversary Celebration in Washington, DC, at the National African American Museum.

When notified of the induction ceremony, Hollingsworth Baker was so pleased stating, "This is wonderful news for the Sisterhood to have our largest scholarship recipient representing both Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and the Zeta National Educational Foundation. To be honest, I knew when I met Adiva at Boule last summer that she would be joining the sisterhood. She was so proud of being the first Archonette to be selected as a recipient. As the former Archonette State President for Mississippi, she embodied the characteristics of a Zeta woman. ZNEF represents the Scholarship Principle of Zeta, and we are so ecstatic to have selected Soror Adiva McQuarter to represent us."
